Get your match and training footage into cliply.

Before you can tag a match, cliply needs to know about the video. Open Add video in a project: paste a link, choose a file from your computer, or create the entry now and attach the footage later. Whichever you pick, the same drawer captures the video's title, the match result and game date, and an optional XML import.

Upload to the cliply cloud only appears if your organization's plan includes cloud storage — Club and Enterprise, or any plan with the Cloud add-on. Without it the file simply stays on your computer, which works on every plan including Free. See Plans and pricing.
Adding a video
Open a project and add a video
Inside your project, select Add video.
Paste a link or choose a file
The drawer opens on Paste a link with the box already focused. cliply works out what you pasted — the chips beside the label light up for YouTube, Vimeo or a direct file/Archive link — and shows a thumbnail and the platform's own title once it confirms the video plays.
No link? Below the or divider, Choose a video from your computer or drop it here takes an MP4, WebM, MOV or MKV. If your plan has cloud storage, an Upload to the cliply cloud toggle sits underneath it: off, the file stays on this computer; on, it plays on any device and can be shared.
Neither? Create without a video makes the entry with no source attached.
Fill in the video details
Whichever way you came in, the same drawer captures:
- Title — prefilled from the platform's own title when you pasted a link, and from the file name when you chose a file
- Match result — your team and the rival plus the score and the game date, or a home/away score if your organization hasn't set an "own team"
- Import clips from XML (optional) — attach an XML file to import clips right after the video is added
Wait for processing (if needed)
A link or a file kept on your computer is ready to tag immediately. A file you chose to upload goes straight to secure cloud storage — it does not route through cliply's servers — and processing begins automatically once the transfer finishes.
What you can paste
One box takes all of them; cliply tells them apart by what arrives.
YouTube
Paste a YouTube link or video ID. cliply validates it and pulls the title automatically — no upload or processing wait.
There is a shortcut: copy a YouTube link and open the dashboard (or switch back to its tab), and cliply spots it on your clipboard and offers to add it in a notice. Add video opens this same drawer with the link and title filled in; Ignore drops it. Each link is offered once, never one your organization already has, and three ignored offers in a row mute the notice for a month. It works in Chrome, Edge and Brave, which ask for clipboard-read permission the first time.
Vimeo
Paste a Vimeo link or ID. Same as YouTube: ready to tag as soon as it's saved.
A direct video URL or Internet Archive item
Paste a public .mp4, .webm or .mov URL, or an Internet Archive link or ID. cliply plays it directly from that URL — nothing is copied into cliply's storage.
A private, removed or embed-blocked video is caught before you save it: the drawer says This video won't play here and suggests making it Unlisted or Public with embedding on, or adding the file instead. You can still add it and fix the link later.
Choosing a file from your computer
Drag a file onto the drop zone or click it to browse. By default the file stays on this computer — cliply plays it locally, so this works fully offline, on every plan, with no processing wait. You can push it to the cloud later from the workbench.
Switch Upload to the cliply cloud on and the same file uploads directly to secure cloud storage instead, so it plays on any device and can be shared. cliply remembers whichever way you chose for next time.
Creating without a video
Create the video entry now with no source attached — useful when you want the project, deck, or match details ready before the footage itself is. Attach the real source afterward from the Source menu inside the workspace.
Manage videos
Duplicate a video
Open a video's menu and choose Duplicate. cliply copies the video entry along with all its clips and tags — useful for creating a variant analysis or a clean copy before making significant edits.
Auto cover art
If a video has no custom poster, cliply generates a colorful cover automatically from the video name. Upload your own poster at any time from the video settings to replace it.
Video file tips
- Format: MP4 with H.264 video is the most reliable. Most camera and phone formats work.
- File size: Large files are fine — uploads go directly to storage, bypassing server memory limits.
