Share links

Share clips and collections with secure links.

On this page

Share links let you send clips, playlists, and collections to players, staff, or scouts without requiring them to create a cliply account. The recipient opens a read-only view in any browser — they can watch, scrub, and see your annotations but cannot edit anything.

A read-only share link opened in a browser — no sign-in required

A share link can contain:

  • A whole video's clips
  • A hand-picked set of clips — tick exactly the ones you want
  • Every clip carrying a chosen set of tags
  • A playlist (multiple clips played in sequence)
  • A collection, whole or a hand-picked subset of it
  • A public match report — a standalone stats page anyone can open without logging in (see below)

The read-only view preserves your flag labels, coaching notes, and any drawings you made with the telestration tool. The recipient sees exactly what you prepared.

Open the share dialog

From a video, a clip, a collection or a playlist, choose Share. The dialog is titled by what you started from, and its first section is What to share.

Choose what to share

Under What to share, pick Video, Clips, Tags or Playlist. Video shares every clip in the video; Clips gives you a checklist with Select all and a running 3/12 selected count; Tags shares every clip matching the tags you pick; Playlist shares one saved playlist.

Starting from a collection, the dialog opens straight onto that collection's clips with the same checklist — that is how you share part of a collection rather than all of it.

Choose who to share with, and set the link options

Who to share with is Just link by default: anyone with the link can view, and no player is notified. Tagged players adds the players tagged on the shared clips automatically; Selected players lets you pick them. Either way you can turn on Email recipients automatically to send the link to everyone who has an email on file.

Link options covers everything else — see the sections below.

Create and send the link

Create link generates the link and copies it. If you protected it, the confirmation shows the access code alongside it — send that separately. Paste the link into a message, email, or team chat; the recipient clicks it to open the view, with no cliply account needed.

Every option below sits under Link options in the share dialog, and can be changed afterwards from Edit share link on the Share links page.

Expires

Never by default. You can also set the link to expire after 1 day, 7 days, 30 days or 90 days.

Protect with code

Turn on Protect with code and viewers must enter a code before they can watch. cliply generates the code and shows it to you when the link is created — it is not part of the URL, so send it through a different channel than the link itself.

Let viewers comment and react

Off, the link is view only: viewers can't comment or react. On, it becomes a collaborative link — viewers can leave comments and reactions on each clip. No account is needed; the first time someone comments they're asked for a display name, which their device remembers. Comments are free-text, up to 2,000 characters, and attach to whichever clip the viewer is watching.

This is useful for gathering feedback from players or staff without giving them editor access to your workspace. A collaborative link always shows clip notes — they are the comment thread — so the Share notes switch is on and locked.

Share notes

Whether viewers see each clip's notes. Independent of the mode on a view-only link.

Take attendance

Turn on Take attendance and each viewer is asked for their name. A few seconds into viewing, playback pauses until they answer. Review the resulting roster from the link's row on the Share links page — handy for confirming a squad actually watched a scouting reel or a video review session.

Antagonist view

If your organization has antagonist tag pairs configured — own-vs-rival mirror pairs like "Goal" and "Goal conceded" — turn on Antagonist view and viewers see each clip as its opposite-perspective tag. Clips are relabeled and recolored for the viewer, who gets an Opponent's perspective banner, so the same footage reads as the rival's highlight reel instead of yours.

Source

If a video has more than one attached source (for example, both a YouTube link and an uploaded file), the link follows the video — whichever source is currently live. Pick a specific source instead to pin the link to it, so it keeps playing that source even if you later swap the video's live source for something else.

Publish a match report

A match report share creates a standalone public page with the stat breakdown from a match. It is optimized for viewing numbers and distributions at a glance — no cliply account needed. Anyone with the link can open it: parents, press, or club management.

To publish one, open the video's Stats screen in the workbench and choose Share report. Copy the link and send it to whoever needs the data.

Access and security

PropertyDetail
Who can viewAnyone with the link — or anyone with the link and the access code, if you protected it
Account requiredNo
Editable by recipientNo — read-only. A collaborative link allows comments and reactions, not edits
ExpiresNever by default; 1, 7, 30 or 90 days optional
Video served bySecure presigned URL (direct from storage, not through cliply's servers)
Treat share links as semi-public

Anyone who has the link can view the content. Avoid sharing links containing sensitive footage in public channels, or protect them with a code. If you need to revoke access, delete the share link from the Share links page — the URL will stop working immediately.

The Share links page (/dashboard/organization/share-links) lists every share link across your whole organization in one place. You can search it, filter by type (video, clips, collection, event, or project) and by status (active, expiring, disabled, expired), and see view counts and attendee counts per link. Each row's mode reads Collaborate when viewers can comment. This is the place to audit old links or revoke access you no longer want to grant.

Share links have no plan restriction — they're available on the Free plan and above, including every plan up the ladder. You do not need a paid subscription to send footage to your squad.

Videos kept on your device can't be shared

A viewer's browser cannot reach a file that only exists on your computer. If the video is on-device only, the dialog says so and blocks the share — upload it or back it up to a cloud source first. See Upload videos.
