Quick answers to the questions that come up most.

Getting started

Is cliply free to use?

Yes — the Free plan is available to every organization with no credit card required. It includes live tagging, the clip library, telestration, playlists, and share links. Some limits apply; see Plans and pricing for current details.

How do I get a cliply account?

Sign up at cliply.video/auth/sign-up with your email or with Google. See Create your account for the step-by-step.

How do I add my coaching staff?

Once you have an organization, you can invite teammates by email from its Members settings. Invitees create their account directly from the invitation link. How many members you can add depends on your plan — see Plans and pricing.

Footage and upload

What video formats does cliply support?

MP4 with H.264 video is the most reliable format. Most recordings from cameras, phones, and drones will work. If a file is rejected after upload, re-encode it to H.264 MP4 and try again.

Can I tag a YouTube video?

Yes. In the Add video flow, select YouTube link and paste the URL. The video is ready to tag immediately — no upload or processing wait. Note that the video must be publicly accessible or unlisted; private and age-restricted videos cannot be used.

Can I add video from Vimeo or a direct URL?

Yes. Besides YouTube, cliply supports a generic direct media URL — paste a link to any publicly accessible MP4 and it's ready to tag right away, no setup required. Vimeo is also supported, but it's enabled per organization by the cliply team rather than something you turn on yourself. Contact support if you'd like Vimeo enabled for your org.

What is the maximum file size for uploads?

There is no hard file size limit. Uploads go directly from your browser to secure cloud storage without routing through cliply's servers. Very large files (several GB) upload fine; just use a stable internet connection.

Does cliply store my video footage?

Cloud storage is available on the Club and Enterprise plans. On the Free, Solo, and Team plans, the desktop app can analyze local files without uploading them to the cloud. See Working offline.

Tagging and clips

What is the buttons deck?

The buttons deck is the row of tag buttons at the bottom of the analysis workspace. Each button corresponds to an action category you define — press it during playback and cliply creates a clip around that moment. See Create clips.

Can I tag in real time during a match?

Yes. This is called live tagging. Open the workspace on match day and press tag buttons (or hotkeys) as the action happens. See Live tagging.

What are clip flags?

Flags let you categorize a clip's quality or priority: Good, To-fix, Doubt, or Important. Use them to filter the library and quickly find the clips that need attention in a review session.

Can multiple people tag the same video at the same time?

Concurrent multi-user tagging in the same workspace is not supported yet.

What can the Viewer role do?

Viewer is a read-only organization role for people who need to watch and follow along without editing anything. Viewers can watch videos, browse the clip library, comment on shared content, react to clips, and create and manage share links — but every other action, like editing tags, clips, projects, or organization settings, is blocked. There's no special "read-only" banner; a Viewer simply won't see the edit controls that other roles see, and any blocked write attempt shows an error message. Assign the role from the organization's Members settings when inviting someone.

Sharing and export

No. Share links open a read-only view in any browser. Recipients can watch, scrub through the video, and see annotations without signing in. See Share links.

Share links do not expire by default. You can delete a share link at any time to revoke access.

Can I export clips as video files?

Yes. On the Club and Enterprise plans, clips export server-side. On any paid plan, you can also use the desktop app's local export, which runs FFmpeg on your own machine. See Exporting video.

Desktop app

What Mac does the desktop app require?

Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, or later). Intel Macs and Windows PCs are not supported in the current release.

Do I need to install FFmpeg separately?

No. The desktop app downloads and manages FFmpeg automatically on first export. See FFmpeg setup.

Can I use cliply without internet on the desktop?

Yes — with the Solo plan or above you can tag local video files, build a clip library, export clips, and work entirely offline. When you have internet access again, you can push the project to the cloud. See Working offline.

What's the difference between desktop offline mode and downloading a video for offline review on the web?

They solve different problems. Desktop offline mode lets you capture and tag video with zero internet connection — everything is stored locally on your machine, and you can sync it to the cloud whenever you're back online. Web "download for review" (available on the Club plan or above) downloads only your tagging data — clips, tags, and events, not the video file itself — into your browser, so you can review it later against your own local copy of the video. It's read-only: there's no editing, and nothing syncs back. See Working offline.

Billing

How many people can I add to my organization?

Each plan has a flat price and a fixed member cap — cliply doesn't bill per seat. Free and Solo are single-member plans, Team supports up to 3 members, Club supports up to 10, and Enterprise has no fixed cap (negotiated per organization). Adding members within your plan's limit doesn't change your bill; to add more people than your plan allows, upgrade to a higher tier. See Plans and pricing for current details.

What are credits?

Credits are the currency for AI match analysis. You buy them in one-time packs; each AI analysis request deducts credits based on usage. See How credits work.

Can I switch from monthly to yearly billing?

Yes. Open Billing settings and select Change plan to switch intervals. Switching to yearly is prorated — you pay for the remainder of the year at the yearly rate. See Manage your subscription.
