Clip status

A single, team-visible pipeline stage that shows where each clip sits in your workflow.

On this page

A clip's status is a single, team-visible pipeline stage — one value per clip, like a column on a kanban board. It's deliberately distinct from reactions, which are personal per-user marks (many per clip, colored dots, private triage). Status answers "where is this clip in our workflow?" with one unambiguous answer for the whole team; reactions answer "what did I personally think of this clip?". A typical flow: an analyst tags a match and leaves personal reactions while watching; afterward they multi-select the relevant clips and bulk-assign a status (say, "In progress"); an editor filters the clip log by that status to get a clean queue, works clip by clip, and flips each to "Done" as they finish.

Setting up the pipeline (org admins)

  1. Sidebar → DecksCatalog tab → Status sub-tab. If you don't see it, the feature isn't enabled for your org yet — contact support to ask about turning it on.
  2. The first time anyone in your org opens the list, three default stages are seeded automatically: To review (blue), In progress (yellow), and Done (green). If the list is ever empty again, the Add default pipeline button seeds those three again.
  3. Create a new stage with the New status button: a label and a color.
  4. Edit a stage by clicking its row, or from the row menu → Edit: rename and recolor it. Renaming doesn't touch the clips already sitting in that stage.
  5. Delete a stage from the row menu → Delete, with a confirmation dialog. Clips that were in that stage aren't deleted — they simply lose their status.

A pipeline holds at most 10 stages. Past that, creating another one is refused — a kanban with more columns than that stops being readable.

Only owners and admins can create, edit, or delete stages, since a delete affects every member's clips. Any member (other than viewers) can assign a status to a clip.

Using status in the workspace

  • Each row in the clip log has a compact status control: a dot or pill showing the current stage, which opens a picker to choose a stage or clear it — picking the current stage again unsets it.
  • The clip log's filter panel has a Status section: one toggle per stage that has matching clips, each with a match count, plus a No status entry that isolates clips with no status assigned. Stages with zero matches aren't offered.
  • Multi-select clips in the clip log and use the bulk status picker in the selection bar to set (or clear) the stage on all of them at once. This is the explicit "promote my personal reactions into a shared queue" step — it never happens automatically, and it doesn't clear the reactions.

Status board

The status board is a kanban view where each stage is a column and clips are cards. Open it with ⌥J (Option+J) from the workspace. Drag a card between columns to restage it, or use the dot on each card to pick a stage from a small popover.

Smart lists by status

Smart lists can filter on status, so you can save a self-updating list like "everything in Needs edit".

Beyond the workspace

  • Desktop app — statuses show on clips offline, and status changes made offline queue up and reach the cloud on the next Sync. The stage list itself is managed online, from the Decks & catalog screen in the desktop app's sidebar.
  • XML export and import — a clip's status survives the round trip: the stage list rides in the file's metadata, and each clip carries its stage. If an imported file references a stage your org doesn't have, that clip just comes in with no status.
  • Audit log — every status change is recorded (who, which clips, from which stage to which), and the stage names are captured at the time of the change, so the history stays readable even if you later rename or delete a stage.

Status is internal production state — people you share clips with never see it. See share links for what they do see.
