Detect plays with AI

Send a match to be analyzed in the background and get its penalty corners, strokes and goals back as clips marked AI, ready to review.

On this page

Play detection watches the whole match and marks the penalty corners, penalty strokes and goals as clips. It runs in the background: you can close the tab and we let you know when it is done. The clips stay marked AI until you review them.

Early access

Play detection is available to organizations with access turned on. If you do not see Detect plays on the video, contact support.

Which videos can be analyzed

  • YouTube: the video has to be public. Unlisted or private videos cannot be analyzed.
  • Videos uploaded to cliply: sent as they are, without cutting them. The file has to be under 2 GB: if it is heavier, the panel takes you to the Converter with a 1900 MB target; convert it and upload that version.
  • Videos on your computer: not yet. Upload it to cliply first.

Set up the analysis

Pick what to look for

Check corners, strokes or goals, and which tag each one lands on. If you do not pick a tag, one named after the play is created.

Mark the quarters

Set where each quarter starts and ends, by hand or from the playhead. Whatever falls outside them (the warm-up, half time) is not analyzed or charged.

Tell it who is who

Each team's name, shirt and goalkeeper colour, and which way your team attacks in the first quarter. That is how the AI knows whose play each one is.

Pick the rounds

  • Fast: one pass over the match.
  • Full: two passes with different windows. Finds more plays.
  • Precise: both passes plus a check of every candidate. Fewer false plays.

Credits

The cost shows before you confirm and depends on the minutes analyzed and the rounds. Credits are reserved when it starts: if the analysis costs less, the difference comes back; if it fails or you cancel it, all of it does.

Review what it found

When it finishes you get a notification in cliply, and an email if you asked for one when setting it up. Each play can be accepted or rejected, moved a second either way, or switched to another type or team. Rejecting a play deletes its clip, and you can say why: it did not happen, it is a replay, it was another play, wrong team or wrong time.

If the AI missed a play, mark it under Missed a play?. And if you enter the final score, we know how many goals it missed even if you review nothing.

All of it is kept to improve the next analyses. The video is only used to train a cliply model if you explicitly allow it.
