Player access

Give a roster player their own account: they sign in with a link by email and see only what is theirs.

On this page

A player on your roster can have their own cliply account. They sign in with a link by email, no password, and land on their own space: they see what the club shares with them and nothing else. They don't see projects, videos, decks, the roster or the club's settings, and they don't take a seat on your plan.

Player access is in beta: if you don't see the option, ask us to turn it on for your club.

Give access

Only an owner or admin can give access. In Players, open the menu on the player's row and choose Give access. cliply emails them a sign-in link; it expires in 15 minutes and works once.

To get access, the player needs:

  • An email on their record. That is where the link goes.
  • To be 13 or older, if their record has a date of birth. A younger player cannot have an account.

Players with access show an Access badge next to their name.

Signing in again

Players have no password. To come back, they choose Sign in with a link by email on the sign-in page, enter their email and get a new link. If a link expires, they can ask for another from the same page.

If the player's email already belongs to a cliply account that uses a password (for example, they are on another club's staff), no link is sent: they sign in with their password and will find your club in their account.

When a signed-in player opens one of your club's links, cliply knows who they are:

  • Comments and reactions are signed with their roster name, without typing it. They show up on the player's profile on their own, with no names to link by hand.
  • Attendance is recorded automatically on links that ask for it, with no "Who's watching?" prompt. Signed-in players carry a verified mark on the attendee list.
  • Views count once per player, even across devices.

A player who opens a link signed out can comment as a guest, or choose Sign in so your coach knows it is you: they get the link by email and come back to the same video.

In Links, each link's menu has Players who watched: the link's recipients and the signed-in players who opened it, with when they opened it and how much of the clips they watched. When the link has recipients, a summary on top says how many opened it (for example, "12 of 18 recipients opened it").

cliply counts what the player actually played of each clip, not seeks, and keeps the most they watched in one sitting: rewatching never counts twice. A clip counts as seen at 90%. Guests have no such detail; they only add to the view count.

The player's space

Once signed in, the player lands on their own space. It has three sections, in a sidebar (on a phone, tabs at the top):

Home shows who they are, which club they play for and three counters (shared, threads and coming up), and below:

  • Coming up: the next matches and trainings of the teams they are on, from the calendar. The coaching staff's internal notes never show.
  • My conversations: every play they commented on, with the thread as the link shows it and the coaching staff's replies. New replies carry a New reply mark.
  • Shared with you: the links the club sent them (with them as a recipient) and the ones they already opened. A link with a code shows a lock: the player needs the code from the club.

My CV is their CV, and they edit it directly: headline, "About me", positions, nationality, second passport, dominant side, height, weight, physical tests, club history, languages, honours and academics. If the club hasn't built one yet, the first save creates it. Contract, references, contact details and full matches stay the club's, and so does publishing: the CV is shared only once the club creates its link. If it has a link, the player opens it without the code and sees how many times it was opened (in total and in the last week, their own visits excluded). Every save notifies the club's owners and admins.

Profile holds their photo (shown on their space, the roster and the CV), their name, theme and language, which they change themselves. It also shows what the club has on them (email, WhatsApp, position, shirt number, date of birth and teams) to read: if something is wrong, the club fixes it.

When someone on the coaching staff replies on a play the player commented on, the player gets an email with the link to that play. Staff private notes never trigger it, and several replies in a row send a single email.

If the same email is a player in more than one club, the space shows a switcher to move between them.

Remove access

From the same menu, Remove access stops the player from signing in to your club. Their roster record stays as it is, and the account remains theirs. Deleting the player from the roster removes their access too.
